Camping Trips…

Join us on one of our inspiring camping trips, where you will escape from it all and immerse yourself in the amazing environment and wildlife around you, reconnecting with the outside world.  Although a remote expedition, the equipment and the food we provide, make it comfortable and homely.

Wilderness with a touch of luxury!

Our trips can be guided or self-guided and we work on a 1:6 guide to client ratio for all our camping trips. All trips are structured to match your ability and the the conditions forecast during the trip.

Whats included

  • All sea kayaking equipment and safety gear.
  • Kayaking kit-dry trousers, sea kayak touring jacket, booties, thermal paddling top and paddling gloves.
  • We encourage clients to bring their tents, sleeping bags and mats, but we are happy to supply these on request.

Outstanding homemade local produce

Our food is produced by our partner company the ‘Achiltibuie Gardens’.  Alison and Julie grow amazing produce hydroponically in their poly tunnels overlooking the Summer Isles.  They are also amazing and passionate cooks and prepare our meals so we can take them with us on our adventure and be spoilt by amazing produce. We have a standard menu or luxury menu available to choose from and we can cater for any of your dietary needs.  Absolutely everything is handmade from the bread to the oatcakes, from the yoghurt to the cakes.  So not only will you be on a kayaking journey, but a culinary one too!

Our trips can include:-

Wilderness of the Summer Isles

An iconic sandstone archipelago, these islands and skerries sit in the ‘Minch’, separated from the Atlantic by the Outer Hebrides.
We will venture into the archipelago by sea kayak and find coral sands, sandstone arches and the giant cathedral cave. You will be surrounded by the most stunning sandstone mountains erupting out of the landscape all around you. These waters are a Marine protected area, home to 20 different types of citations, so if you are in luck you may spot a porpoise or pod of dolphins. Sea Eagles nest near-by and fly overhead and the islands and skerries are home to wildflowers, purple heathers and nesting birds, seals and otters.

Assynt and the far north is a unique and rugged coastline, with everything to offer the paddler.  Its unique geology, gives you countless white sand beaches, enchanting islands, waterfalls, famous sea stacks and an abundance of wildlife making it the sea kayakers dream.  This trip will allow you to get close to the mighty sea eagle, we will paddle to see the Eas a Culallan waterfall, the highest waterfall in the UK.  Depending on experience levels and weather/tide conditions, we might also get the chance to visit Handa Island, with towering cliffs, cavernous caves and thousands of nesting birds, kittiwakes, guilemots, skua and of course the famous puffin.

Suilven Lochs and Peaks

This trip allows you to enter deep into the landscape of Coigach and Assynt. Where you will certainly be outnumbered by deer.  Where ospreys fish for their tea and where dippers wade, swim and dive along the waters edge.  We paddle up the lochs and are surrounded by the sandstone peaks of Suilven, Cul Beag, Cul Mor and Stac Pollaidh, the light and colours as the sunsets a sight to behold.  We can summit a mountain or two or we can choose to keep exploring the more remote lochs further or both!  This is such a special trip and can be done by kayak or canoe and is one of our trips that works well as a trip for those with some experience.

What Our Paddlers Say

"

My first time sea kayaking, and I couldnt have asked for a better guide/instructor/location. It was a fantastic experience, and I now desperate to do more sea kayaking! What a fantastic way to see beautiful Scotland. I cant recommend enough Norwest Sea Kayaking, you wont only have top quality and local teaching/guidance but also a great day with not only sea kayaking but also hot chocolate and whiskey!

"

It was last year in April but I remember it like yesterday: a professional and fun instructor, well equipped (all sizes for everyone), really good knowledge of her region, beautiful spots discovered. . . nice moment sharing fun and a nice special hot chocolate.and she even helped me with my low battery at the end of the day.

I recommend ++++

What a great paddle yesterday with Jules. Her local knowledge and sense of fun Is infectious. She pointed out wildlife we would have missed both above and below the water.

We highly recommend her to you all. We will be back for more .
Thanks Jules you are an inspiration
